Bontrager Tax, Accounting & Consulting, LLC has been providing income tax and accounting services since 1943. Thomas Miller founded the practice as Miller’s Tax Service and ran it for 34 years until selling to Don Yoder in 1977. Don continued to build the practice over the next three decades until he sold the business to Dan Bontrager in 2006.

We provide a number of services relating to income tax planning and form preparation for individuals. For farmers and other small businesses we do accounting and financial reporting, bookkeeping, payroll and other business services.
To help take the hassle out of preparing your income taxes, meeting your payroll tax deposit filing deadlines, setting up a new business accounting system or preparing financial statements for banking or financial purposes.
Dan Bontrager – Owner, Certified Public Accountant & Enrolled Agent
Born and raised in Lone Tree, Dan has lived in Eastern Iowa all his life. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business from Cornell College in Mount Vernon and completed his Master’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Iowa. He has over 20 years experience working as an accountant with a variety of organizations including a public accounting firm, a venture capital company and a manufacturer. He also directed a private, non-profit school in Iowa City.
Dan is a member of the Iowa Society of CPAs (ISCPA) and the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP).
Besides his professional experience, Dan has officiated high school football games throughout Iowa for 26 years. He also coached high school boys’ basketball for a decade, including four years (1998-2002) as the Head Coach at Highland High School (Riverside).
