Soon after graduating from William Jewell College in 1984, I
began my lifelong career in public accounting. I started as an
entry level staff accountant with a large multi-office local CPA
firm. I took the CPA exam in 1985, passing all four parts the first
time. I advanced through the ranks to the manager level during
my time there managing audit, tax, and consulting engagements for
a wide variety of clients.
During 2002, I branched out, beginning my own firm while serving
as CFO of a multi-million dollar farm implement dealer. During
2005, I phased out of the farm implement business to pursue
public accounting on a full time basis again.
As an auditor with the local firm and during the years since, I have
had the advantage of being exposed to many different types of
businesses and became familiar with the inner workings of these
businesses. Some examples are manufacturing facilities,
transportation companies, auto dealers, farmers, farm implement
dealers, golf courses, auctioneers and livestock marketers, feed
lots, limited liability real estate partnerships, aftermarket
consultants, grain elevators, farm supply retailers, funeral homes,
insurance agencies, local and county governments, school and
water districts, retail shops, auto repair businesses, and numerous
other businesses. The experience gained from having clients in
many different industries allows me to apply that experience to all
my clients.
I have an emphasis in agriculture related businesses. Because of
my lifelong interest in farming and as a cattleman myself, I have
the advantage of personal experience to offer my agriculture
industry clients.
I am an active member of my local church serving as a deacon,
treasurer, and various other positions. I am a past president of a
local Kiwanis Club and have served as a board member of the
Chamber of Commerce.
I have been a member of the Missouri Society of Certified Public
Accountants since 1986. As a part of my Missouri license I am
required to complete an average of 40 hours of continuing
education annually.
