The firm is owned by nine shareholder CPAs and is staffed by a diverse accounting and support team selected for their outstanding knowledge and a sincere desire to provide the very best in client service. We utilize a team-based approach, with service teams typically composed of a shareholder and at least one manager in addition to the appropriate specialists. These teams provide senior-level guidance, continuity, industry-specific advice and timely response to all client needs.

Colin E. Blalock, CPA, PFS, CFP
Colin E. Blalock is a Shareholder at Jones and Kolb. With many years’ experience in the accounting world, Colin worked with two regional public accounting firms and as a Revenue Agent with the Internal Revenue Service before joining Jones and Kolb in 1986. He works with entrepreneurs and closely-held businesses assisting clients with individual and corporate tax matters, tax advocacy and IRS examinations and disputes. He assists clients in a variety of industries and has a special focus in not-for-profits and professional service organizations including architecture and design clients.
Along with his qualifications as a CPA, Colin holds the designation of Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and Accredited Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) conferred by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. Colin is an active volunteer, holding positions with several professional organizations. His roles include serving as past chair for the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA) and as trustee and past president for the Georgia Federal Tax Conference, past President for the Tax Exempt & Government Entities (TE/GE) Gulf Coast IRS Advisory Council and serving on the steering committee for the Atlanta Executive Forum. He is an active member of the Atlanta Alumni of Revenue Agents.
In addition to his tax and advisory duties, Colin is regularly invited to present to various organizations about tax and business topics. He also serves as the facilitator of the Design Information Group (DIG), which focuses on addressing financial, accounting and business matters that owners, financial and administrative personnel of design, architectural and engineering firms often face. In recognition of his efforts and service to his clients and industry, Colin was named a Distinguished Section Chair by the GSCPA, on top of receiving their Distinguished Service Award.
Colin is a graduate of Georgia State University where he earned his B.A. in Accounting. Originally from Chamblee, Georgia, Colin still lives in the metro Atlanta area and now he and his wife call Peachtree Corners home. They have two adult children, one grandson and one granddaughter. Colin is currently the Chair of Finance of Norcross First United Methodist Church and a member of the Board of Directors of Fowler YMCA in Peachtree Corners. He likes to stay active and enjoys exercising and playing golf. He also loves to travel. When asked to share something few people know, he admitted a soft spot for two of his favorite cartoon characters, Super Grover and Foghorn Leghorn. Additionally, a perennial contender for People Magazine’s “Nicest Former IRS Agent Alive” honor, Colin was recently notified by email of his selection to receive substantial sums of money from high-level Nigerian business officials in exchange for his bank account information.
