Ben Johnson
After earning a BA in accounting from Elon University, Ben Johnson attended the Graduate School of Accounting at Virginia Tech. He was licensed as a certified public accountant in 1988, and began his professional career with Longwood University as Director of Accounts Payable. He also served in the positions of Director of Cashiering and Student Accounts, Budget Director, and Assistant Vice President for Finance. During this time, his part-time accounting and consulting practice grew to the point that it required full-time attention, and in 2001 he established the accounting firm of Benjamin H. Johnson CPA. The firm, which is based in Farmville, VA, provides accounting services, tax planning and tax return preparation, estate planning and administration, payroll services, and small business consulting to clients throughout south side Virginia.
Ben is an active member of both the local business community as well as his professional community. He is a member of the Virginia Society of CPAs and American Institute of CPAs, both of which have requirements for continuing education and periodic peer reviews that help accountants stay at the top of their profession. He is also a member of the Buckingham Ruritan Club, the Farmville Rotary Club, the Buckingham and Farmville Chambers of Commerce, and the Farmville BNI Chapter; he also serves on the board of the Farmers Bank of Appomattox. Ben Johnson resides in the Sheppards area of Buckingham County with his wife Susan, a teacher at Fuqua School. Together they have three sons and one grandson.
