Larry J. Kasper is a self-employed CPA practicing in Hilliard a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. He received a B.S.B.A. (economics major) (1969), Master in Accounting (1975) from The Ohio State University and an M.B.A. in Operations Research (finance major) (1971) from The University of Michigan.
Before starting his own practice, Mr. Kasper was employed on the management consulting staff of Touche Ross and Co. and as an economist for the Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio, and Dean Witter in New York City.
His practice provides litigation support in divorce proceedings, economic damages and business valuations, and assists attorneys in estate accounting and tax return preparation. He has testified as an expert witness on wrongful death, business valuations, economic damages, trust mismanagement, and pension valuations and has served as economic consultant to the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation for evaluation of personal injury claims.
Mr. Kasper has been an instructor on the faculty of accounting at The Ohio State University, teaching tax, financial and management accounting. He has conducted seminars for the National Association of Accountants, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Columbus Bar Association, Professional Education Systems, Inc., The Ohio State University College of Law, the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, and programs for law firms and private employers related to taxes, fiduciary accounting, and economic damages. He has been a featured speaker at professional organizations’ national conferences: The National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA) and The Institute of Business Appraisers (IBA).
Mr. Kasper has written and presented professional development seminars for the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Columbus Bar Association on “Using a CPA in Divorce Proceedings”, “Divorce Taxation”, “Business Valuations”, “Estate Accounting and Tax Return Preparation”, “Accounting Concepts for Lawyers” and “Business Valuations for Lawyers.”
Mr. Kasper is a member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Institute of Business Appraisers, and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. He holds the Certified Valuation Analyst certification (CVA) from that organization, and is listed in Who’s Who in Finance and Industry (28th ed.) and Who’s Who in America (since 1998). Mr. Kasper served on the Ohio Child Support Guidelines Advisory Commission. He has been featured in Accounting Today, quoted on The Street.Com, and Columbus C.E.O. (Jan, 2006), listed in Who’s Who in the Midwest and has published in Management Accountant, Child Welfare, The Journal of Taxation, and The Valuation Examiner and Columbus Bar Briefs.. He is the author of the award winning book (IBA Publication of the Year), Business Valuations: Advanced Topics, published by Quorum Books. He assisted in reviewing the second edition of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ self-study course, Business Valuation Methods, NACVA’s Current Updates, and other courses, and Quantitative Business Valuation. He received the Certificate of Completion for the Business Valuation Methods Course from the AICPA.
