Laurence R. Bloom, CPA, CGMA
Larry is one of the founding members of the firm and has over 25 years of experience advising privately held companies, professional practices, investment partnerships and entrepreneurial people in all areas of taxation, accounting and auditing, business management and life style management.
He also brings extensive credentials to his clients. Larry graduated from American University, in Washington, D.C. with a Business Administration degree with concentrations in Accounting and Finance. He received his formal accounting training at a prestigious medium size accounting firm in New York City. After spending several years there, working in both the auditing and tax departments, he joined forces with Elliot J. Katz in 1991. In 1995, they formed Katz & Bloom, CPAs, LLC, which became Katz Bloom & Schon CPAs LLC in 2009.
Larry is currently on the Board of Directors of the Nassau/Suffolk Chapter of the National Conference of CPA Practitioners (ncCPAp) and a co-chairperson of the MAP committee. He has served on the Estate and Personal Financial Planning committee and the Medical and Other Professionals committee of the Nassau Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also currently a co-chairman of the Practice Continuity Committee of the Nassau Chapter.
In addition to being a CPA, Larry is a Chartered Global Management Accountant. The CGMA designation demonstrates management accounting expertise, determination and commitment to achieving sustainable business success. The issuing body is a joint venture owned by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the designation requires a combination of exams, experience and other membership requirements.
Larry is licensed by the New York Department of Financial Services as an agent for Life, Accident and Health Insurance. He integrates this license as part of advising clients on retirement planning strategies particularly focusing on planning for long-term care.

Joel Lanz, CPA, P.C. is a niche CPA practice licensed by the State of New York. Joel Lanz began the practice in November 2001 after having served as a Technology Risk Consulting Partner at Arthur Andersen.
The practice continues to grow and its client list includes regional and community banks, health insurance companies, technology service providers, educational institutions and nonprofit organizations. Joel Lanz is the founder and principal of Joel Lanz, CPA, P.C., a niche CPA practice focusing on Information and Technology Governance, Risk, Compliance and Audit. Prior to starting his practice in 2001, Joel was a Technology Risk Consulting Partner at Arthur Andersen (1995-2001) and was a Manager at Price Waterhouse (1986-1991). Joel currently serves as a Reference Member of the American Cancer Society’s Audit Committee and is a memeber of the Society’s Enterprise Risk Management Task Force. His industry experience includes Vice President and Audit Manager at The Chase Manhattan Bank (1991- 1995) and senior IT auditor positions at two insurance companies (1981- 1986).
Joel currently chairs the AICPA’s Information Management and Technology Assurance Executive Committee and previously chaired the AICPA’s CITP credential committee (IT specialist certification for CPAs) and co-chaired the AICPA’s Top Technology Initiatives Task Force. Joel’s prior professional society contributions include serving as Chairman of the New York State Society of CPAs Technology Assurance and Information Technology Committees.
